how it works
~ step by step ~
step one
We will chat about what your perfect world looks like to you - each photo session is unique to you. We will discuss package options & I will answer all the questions you have. Sessions are fully guided, all inclusive and tailored to you and your horse.
step two
A signed contract and retainer of $300 lock in your date. I will send over my Welcome Guide to help you plan a session; what your vision of your perfect world looks like.
step three
The day of your session, I take the reins! Well, figuratively speaking...it is my job to find the best, most magical light, to tell you where to stand and where to look. All the while, you get to snuggle your adorable pony.
step four
Within 24-48 hours after your session, I will send you a gallery link to some SNEAK PEEKS! And within 2-3 weeks you will get an email that your full gallery is ready! Then it's time to pick out your wall art!

This session is not just about getting pretty pictures with your horse. It is about the experience; capturing the bond you have with your best friend. Yes, I want you to have pretty pictures, but what I REALLY want is for YOU to look back at these photos years from now and FEEL that magical day all over again: feel the sun on your skin as you stand in the pasture gazing up at your pony or the chill of the ocean breeze as you ride your majestic steed on the sandy beach.

Where are you located?
A.I am in Vacaville, California. However, I travel throughout the greater Northern and Central Valley areas of California. Travel for mileage greater than 50 miles outside of the 95687 zip code do apply.
If you are out of state, please contact me to find out about travel fees.
When should I plan my session?
A.The spring, summer, and fall months are great for sessions, and can be booked 2-3 months in advance. The best time of day is 1-2 hours before sunset or within an hour after sunrise.
How should I prepare myself and my horse for our session?
A.I recommend that your horse be clean prior to the session. If your horses are like mine, they like dirt! They may require a bath depending on how dirty your horse decides to get. I also suggest giving your horse a snack a bit before our session so food isn’t the only thing on his mind.
As for human needs, whether you decide to hire a professional hair and makeup artist or not, styling your hair in loose curls and neutral makeup tones look great and very put together in photos. My Welcome Guide also talks about this, which you will receive upon booking your session.
When will I receive my photos?
A.Turn around time is 2-3 weeks. However, I strive to deliver them sooner, so if I can, I absolutely will! You will receive an online gallery via email. From here, you will be able to download your high resolution images.
When & how do I pay for my session?
A.Once you schedule your session, you will receive a client portal where you will be able to access your contract and invoice. I require a $300 retainer at the time of booking to secure your date and the remaining balance is due at the time of our session together.
What happens if the weather is bad?
A.I am always watching the weather like a hawk! That is a BIG part of my job! If it looks like the weather will cooperate with our session plans, we will reschedule for the next available date.
Most importantly, what should I wear?!
A.This is one of the first things I start thinking about when I think of being in front of the camera instead of behind the camera, so I totally get it! Once you book your session, I will email you a Welcome Guide to help you plan your session.
Don't go shopping yet! You might only have to go as far as your own closet! Pull out some of your favorite pieces and maybe even some pieces that you haven’t worn in forever. Give yourself some options: bright pieces, some neutral pieces, layers, and lots of jewelry. You want to choose something that fits your style, personality, and compliments your horse’s color. I recommend searching through Pinterest to get a sense of what types of outfits you are attracted to and that photograph well. The most important thing is to feel comfortable and confident in your clothing. You may decide to use these images as décor in your home in the form of prints, wall canvas galleries, or a photo album, so this is important to keep in mind as you plan your outfits, locations, and poses.
If you feel stuck, I am happy to offer suggestions! I also have a collection of statement pieces and other accessories in my "client closet" available to borrow for your session. Sometimes it is nice to add a new accessory without having to purchase it.
Can I use my photos for ads and social media?
A.You have full permission for printing, ads, and online personal use. Credit to Lauren Ann Pace Photography is not required, but always greatly appreciated. @laurenannpace on Facebook and Instagram.
